Players can find a Legion by interacting with a Timeless Monolith. There are several ways to find these Monoliths:
Kirac's map device options are now unlocked as you complete bonus objectives on your Atlas. Kirac Map Mods Available During 3.22:
Name | Kirac’s league modifiers | Cost |
---|---|---|
Legion | Area contains an additional Legion Encounter. | 6x Chaos Orb |
Scarabs are a type of map fragment. They do not open portals to new areas, but are instead used to augment existing areas with various effects.
Item | Legion Encounters Stats |
---|---|
Gilded Legion Scarab | Area contains an additional Legion Encounter Each Legion contains a War Hoard Each Legion is accompanied by a General |
Polished Legion Scarab | Area contains an additional Legion Encounter Each Legion contains a War Hoard |
Rusted Legion Scarab | Area contains an additional Legion Encounter |
Winged Legion Scarab | Area contains 2 additional Legion Encounters Each Legion contains a War Hoard Each Legion is accompanied by a General |
Legion map modifiers are occasionally offered by Kirac on maps he offers through his Master Missions. His crafting also makes it possible to add these modifiers through the Map Device, though the list of league modifiers available this way changes when a new challenge league begins, and thus may not always be available.
Monoliths will not spawn in excessively small or cramped areas. Interacting with the Monolith will reveal a battle between two Legion factions that are in stasis. A timer will start once the Monolith is activated. During this phase, the enemies can be "killed", breaking them out of stasis and allowing them to be fought when the timer ends for rewards. The timer can range from 14 to 20 seconds (or more with Atlas passives), with a longer timer in lower-level zones. Once the timer runs out, all the enemies that were broken out of stasis will remain and start attacking. Enemies that didn't get broken out will disappear.
Schism: Alternatively, taking the Timeless Conflict keystone will disable the Legion timer. Instead, breaking out monsters and chests from stasis will contribute progress towards a Schism, as shown by a progress bar. Once the progress bar is full, the Schism will occur and the Legion encounter will begin. Breaking out monsters and chests with rewards or more powerful monsters will contribute more progress towards the Schism.
Some Legion enemies have a symbol above their heads, indicating an additional reward type they will drop. Chests and War Hoards can also spawn, which can be destroyed and opened after the timer runs out. Destroying a Chest or War Hoard will free all nearby enemies without symbols in a radius around it. The general of each Legion can occasionally spawn, always spawning in the far rear of the formation. If a general spawns, the monolith will display a wave of purple on the bottom in the direction of the general.
Generally, rarer spawns will spawn further away from the monolith. Therefore, it's advised to move deep into a formation as quickly as possible if you are looking for rare spawns.
