NBA 2K24 Alley Oop

NBA 2K24 Alley Oop

There are three different kinds of alley-oops in NBA 2K24: the traditional alley-oop, the alley-oop to one’s self, and a bounce pass alley-oop. Each has its own variances, including how each is performed and how many players on the court are involved in the play.

Here are the controls for each one:

  • Alley-oop: Double tap Y (for Xbox) or Triangle (for PlayStation). Then, use the left stick to select the receiver of the alley-oop pass.
  • Alley-oop pass: Double tap Y/Triangle, and then move the left stick towards the hoop.
  • Bounce pass alley-oop: Press A (for Xbox) or X (for PlayStation), plus B (for Xbox) or Circle (for PlayStation). Then, move the left stick toward the receiver of the pass.

Those are the controls for doing alley-oops in NBA 2K24. Remember, alley-oops are high-risk, high-reward moves. So, make sure that when doing one, you have plenty of confidence and, if you’re in MyTeam or MyCareer, some teammates that you’re very comfortable with receiving the pass and getting the latter part of the move done.

How to do an alley-oop pass in NBA 2K24

PlayStation: Double Tap Triangle. Use LS To Select Receiver.

Xbox: Double Tap Y. Use LS To Select Receiver.

PC: Tap NumPad 3

Additional Tips: When trying out the alley-oop play in NBA 2K24, the direction of your LS will be key to where your lob will be thrown. If it’s by any means off, the alley-oop could be botched and you could turnover the ball as result.

Moreover, the proximity between you and the player you’re throwing the ball to will play a factor in whether you will be able to execute the alley-oop. The further you’re from the player you’re trying to pass to, the more challenging it will be to successfully pull it off.

When trying these moves out, we recommend you give them a go with the best rated players in the game so you can get a good feel for what to expect when using them during a game that matters.

Bounce Pass Alley-Oop

Let’s get nuts! NBA 2K24 also gives players the option to time a bounce pass alley-oop to a teammate—and trust us when we say the emphasis is very much on timing. To pull it off, the player must hit the pass and bounce pass buttons at the same time while directing the left joystick to their intended target. That’ll be X + O on PlayStation, A + B on Xbox, and X + A on the Nintendo Switch.

That’s everything you need to know as it pertains to the alley-oop pass in NBA 2K24. Now it’s time to get out there and bring your own style to the court. Alley-Oop to Yourself

Don’t trust your teammates to get the job done? No problem. Perhaps that isn’t the issue, and you’d just rather show off. Whatever the case may be, there’s an easy way to keep an alley-oop all for yourself. Once again, simply double-tap the lob pass button. This time, though, make sure your player is currently making their way to the rim while also operating within plenty of space.

There is always the chance that this registers as a regular alley-oop, and thus tosses the ball to a nearby teammate, but do not fret! Making sure your player has plenty of space is crucial. A little bit of practice wouldn’t hurt either.

Alley-Oop to a Teammate

The lob pass has often been the best friend of a 2K player, and 2K23 is no different. To perform a good old-fashioned alley-oop to a teammate, simply double-tap the lob pass button and move the left joystick towards who you wish to receive the ball. That’ll be Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, and X on the Nintendo Switch.

However, do make sure your intended target(s) are either near or at least moving towards the basket as you attempt an alley-oop. If not, you run the risk of tossing the ball harmlessly out of bounds—or, perhaps worse, dropping it right into the hands of the opposition.
